Type 2 Diabetes and Breast and Thyroid Health in Women - Increase Your Intake of Iodine!
By Beverleigh H Piepers

Over the past 40 years, millions of North American women have experienced a nutritional condition once completely wiped out... iodine deficiency. Women who have Type 2 diabetes in particular, but many women in general, suffer painful fibrocystic changes in the breasts that simple iodine supplementation usually takes away.
The reason iodine consumption in the USA and Canada has fallen precipitously since the middle of the twentieth century is bakeries that once used iodine compounds to bleach flour now use bromine compounds. This greatly reduces the amount of iodine in the diet, and, even worse, it adds an anti-iodine compound to everyday eating. Bromine attaches to receptor sites in the thyroid that otherwise would be receiving the iodides it needs to make thyroid hormone.
When thyroid hormone levels are reduced, all the problems associated with Type 2 diabetes get that much worse. There can be inexplicable weight gain, inexplicable high blood sugar levels, and a general feeling of being tired all the time. And in women, there can also be inexplicable breast pain followed by fibrocystic changes in the breast.
When breast pain is caused by deficiency in the iodides provided by food, there is a distinctive rhythm with the menstrual cycle, (in women who have not experienced age-related or surgical menopause). This deficiency causes estrogen to latch on to more receptors in the breast, causing fibrous tissues to grow during the first half of the period, before ovulation. In women who have experienced menopause, the pain may occur all the time.
Two studies have found a keen role of this overlooked nutrient in women's breast health. One study found that women who take it overcome fibrocystic breast pain in 70% of cases. Another study found that the dosage needed for this is just 6 mg a day. That's a great deal more than is needed to prevent goiter, but it's still not a lot of iodine. That's just a 12.5 mg Iodoral tablet every other day, or a single serving of kelp or other sea vegetables every day. It's very easy to use iodine to control breast pain.
And it is very important for women who have Type 2 diabetes to take their Iodoral or to eat their sea veggies. Especially as they cut out white flour and carbohydrates, and as they make their diets more adventurous by using exotic salts, women just don't get the iodides they need. There's just one caveat.
Once in a great while women experience a condition known as iodism. This is really a reaction to the release of bromides that had been occupying receptor sites in thyroid tissue. All you need to do is to reduce your dosage of iodine.
And women who are on thyroid replacement hormone may need less Synthroid or Armour Thyroid, or both. Women who don't know that extra iodides are causing symptoms such as heart palpitations can become quite alarmed... if you take thyroid replacement hormones, speak with your doctor before taking the supplement.
And now I would like you to claim your Free E-Book when you visit Answers to Your Questions.
You will then have access to information diabetics have requested over recent months.

Breast Cancer and Breast Health - Take Action Now to Avoid Being a Statistic

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

For fifteen years I have worked as a professional educator. For 5 of those years I have worked in a healthcare organization. One of the most talked about topics is breast cancer and breast health. The bottom line is that although breast cancer is not preventable, it is usually easily detectable.

Note: Breast cancer is not race specific - all races get breast cancer!

Note: Breast cancer is not gender specific - men get breast cancer too!

When breast cancer is caught in the early stages the chances of survival are very high. Please don't add yourself or a friend or loved one to the growing list of statistics. Take action today! Here is a simple three part action step plan to help you with the early detection of breast cancer.

Part One: Regular Mammograms

Ladies, this is the most important part of maintaining good breast health: regular mammograms. Mammograms are fast, simple x-rays similar to the x-rays you get at a dentist's office visit. In fact, mammograms actually use less radiation than a dental x-ray!

Mammograms put you light years ahead when it comes to cancer treatment because they can detect breast lumps long before you or your doctor could physically feel a breast lump. Because early detection is a key to survival, you need to put regular mammograms on your schedule.

The American Cancer Society recommends regular mammograms for all women starting at age 40. If you have a family history of breast cancer, your physician may want you to start a regular mammogram schedule much earlier.

The older you get, the higher your chances of breast cancer. Over 75% of all breast cancers occur in women who are 50 or older. Over 50% of all breast cancers occur in women who are 65 or older.

Ladies - listen to me! Get a regular mammogram! Please! For the sake of your friends and family who love you so much, schedule a yearly mammogram if you are 40 or older or have a family history of breast cancer.

Part Two: Clinical Breast Exam

Only your physician or nurse will do a clinical breast exam for you. All women in their 20's and 30's should have a clinical breast exam as part of their annual health checkups at least every 3 years. After the age of 40, this should be done every year without fail.

What Will Happen In A Clinical Breast Exam?

The physician or nurse will take your personal health history by asking you a series of health history questions. This will include asking about family history. Next the physician or nurse will look at your breasts while you stand in front of a mirror with your hands on your hips. Finally the physician or nurse will physically exam your entire breast up to the neck, in your armpit, the center of your chest and to the bottom of your rib cage. Finally they will discuss proper breast health with you as well as show you how to perform breast self-exams. The entire process can take up to 10 minutes. It should rarely be under 5 minutes.

Part Three: Breast Self-Exams

You need to become familiar with how your breasts look and feel regularly so that you are aware of any changes from normal. If you notice changes, report these to your physician immediately.

One of the most important steps you can take is to do monthly breast self-exams. An easy way to remember to do this is to check while you take a shower. Some organizations even have a shower card you can hang from your shower head with punch out holes for each month, so you can easily track when you have done your exams.

Remember that you need to physically exam your breasts by hand as well as look in the mirror for any visible changes. If you think you've found a lump or noticeable change, notify your doctor immediately.

Most breast lumps are NOT cancer, but you won't know until you ask and have it checked out.

Take Action Now!

Begin your regular breast health plan today which includes regular mammograms, clinical breast exams and monthly self-exams. When breast cancer is caught in the early stages survival rates are greatest. Take action now - for yourself, for your friends and family who love you so much!

Are All Abnormal Mammograms Breast Cancer?

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

Breast cancer forms inside the tissues of the breast. It is more common in women that it is in men. A self-examination and a mammogram are used to detect the presence of lumps. The lumps are then tested to check if they are cancerous and need to be removed. Treatment involves surgery, drugs and radiation. In addition, there are many different types of breast cancer and the extent of their spread is different. Early detection is very important because, it means that you start receiving treatment early. This helps increase your chances of survival.
Breast cancer is more likely to happen in women who come from families with a history of the disease. It is likely to occur in women over the age of forty and those that have the cancer causing gene. Every woman over the age of forty is required to get a mammogram yearly. Those at a higher risk should consider getting checked before the age of forty. A screen mammogram is able to detect an abnormality before it is big enough to be felt during self-examinations. If a lump is found, then a diagnostic mammogram is done to check whether it is cancerous. Other follow-up tests that could be done to check whether a lump is cancerous include; a needle biopsy, a surgical biopsy or a breast ultra-sound.
Not all lumps or abnormal mammograms are indications of breast cancer. A lump could be benign and non-cancerous. It could be a breast cyst or a denser than normal breast tissue. Another factor that could lead to an abnormal looking mammogram is a previous breast surgery. Further tests after screening mammogram needs to be done as soon as possible. This is done so as to allay the patients fears or so that, treatment can begin.
Abnormal mammogram results can have adverse effects on the lives of the patients, family members and friends. This is because of the uncertainty involved as they wait for the diagnostic, biopsy or ultra sound results. Repeated use of mammograms could result in problems due to radiation exposure. There are also limitations involved with the use of these tests. For example, they do not usually save lives as diagnosis could be made after the cancer has spread to other body parts. In situations where it has not spread, it could still not result in helping save lives.

Breast Health Care - A Basic Approach
By Maxwell Unamba

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

There is need for every woman to do a regular self-examination on herself. This will help you to be familiar with your breast, and helps to detect any changes that may occur, and perhaps cancer in its early stages. One of the most important methods of enhancing healthy breast tissues by self-examination is by regular breast massage on yourself.
A regular breast massage will help you get used to normal breast tissue related condition that may occur due to hormone fluctuation, or during your monthly cycles. These may include pre-menstrual tension and discomfort, uneven or lumpy tissue, petoralis muscle pain, mastitis, milk production in lactating women. All these respond well to a regular massage.
One key factor in preserving and promoting healthy breast tissue is the consistent flow of the lymph fluids. The lymphatic system is responsible for the removal of toxins from our body. It serves to remove cellular debris and waste by products of normal cellular function. The lymph carries immune cells for fighting against infection and tissue growth like cancer. To insure a healthy flow of lymph fluids to promote healthy breast tissue regular movements, and regular breast massage are absolutely essential.
Another important factor in the promotion of breast health care is the intake of natural ingredients that help to promote breast health care based on current research on natural hormone balance, systematic detoxification and enhancing immune function. These ingredients should contain:
1.Plant base Estrogen:-help to balance female hormone agent. 2.Anti-oxidants:- doubles as phytoestrogen immune booster, and anti tumor. 3.Phytonutrients:- important disease fighters that seek out and destroy aberrant cell growth. 4.Detoxifying agents:-rids the body of toxins including harmful estrogen.
Our present day busy lifestyle has placed our dietary dependency mostly on junk and fast foods. This is of course unhealthy. Apart from the factors mentioned above there is need to adopt a healthy lifestyle that should also involve, healthy diet, consistent exercise, and stress reduction. These are the essential to basic breast health care.

Natural Health - Common Sense For Breast Health

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

I remember learning Anatomy and Physiology when I was studying to become a Registered Nurse. wanted a more thorough understanding of the lymphatic system and felt what we learned was limited. Conventional medicine didn't pay much attention to the importance of the lymphatic system for one's health. I wonder... has this changed?
Lymphatic fluid circulates in tiny vessels similar to veins throughout the body. The fluid (or lymph) is clear, or slightly yellowish, and watery. It comes from the tissues of the body. Lymph helps remove bacteria and carries cells that help fight infection and disease. It's an important part of the immune system.
Lymphatic fluid doesn't circulate well without our help. It doesn't have a pump to move it like the our blood vessels have the heart. Movement of the body is the only way to move lymph. Without regular movement the lymph can become stagnant. Also, tight clothing, such as bras, can press on the vessels and restrict the flow.
This is very abundant in the breast area. There are many lymph nodes under the armpit. These clusters of tissue help protect the body from foreign organisms and cancer cells. Mobilization of lymph can help prevent breast congestion and maybe even cancers. Women often intentionally restrict the movement of their breasts, which is not healthy. Daily self-care should include breast movement. It can be as simple as moving your bra's shoulder strap-up and down. It's common sense.
Cheryl Chapman is a dear friend and holistic nursing colleague. She is also a well-known massage therapist and a breast care advocate. "Phluffing Your Girls" is an adorable expression she coined for this process She recommends moving your breasts like you are fluffing a pillow with your hands.
Here are some of the benefits:
--Reduce breast congestion --Soften breasts --Decrease lumps and cysts from fibrocystic breasts --Move lymph --Bring T-Cells to protect the breasts --Reduce breast tenderness during pregnancy --Enhance breastfeeding --Easier to do a self breast exam --Maintain healthy breast tissue

Benefits with Calcium on Breast Health - Are There Any Benefits with Calcium on Breast Health?

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

It has recently been discovered that calcium helps in the fight against breast cancer, and therefore, there are many benefits with calcium on breast health. Calcium and vitamin D both are required to decrease breast densities, consequently reducing the risk of breast cancer.
Women above the age of 40 are not only more likely to become victims of bone disease but also breast cancer. These diseases mainly occur due to nutrient deficiency, particularly calcium and magnesium deficiency. Benefits with calcium on breast health can be seen by consuming calcium supplements on a regular basis.
Postmenopausal women require up to 1500 mg of calcium daily. With this amount, they should also consume adequate quantities of vitamin D to help in maximum absorption of calcium by the bloodstream. Studies have shown that women who eat a balanced diet with at least 1000 mg of calcium and more than 100 IU of vitamin D are at a reduced risk of developing breast cancer, osteoporosis, prolonged depression and PMS.
Calcium is important for maintaining overall health as it contributes to making the immune system strong. It is also required by many other systems of the body to carry out various activities including absorption of other nutrients and proper digestion of food.
If nutrients are not readily absorbed they are useless and are lost through urine. In order to obtain maximum benefits with calcium on breast health, a proper diet along with calcium supplements and regular exercise is necessary. Try to find good-quality calcium supplements available on the market. These supplements are effective and help in overcoming calcium deficiency and also serve to cure many serious complications.
Abnormally low as well as abnormally high levels of calcium in the blood are dangerous for health. Sometimes excess calcium deposits are formed in parts where it is not needed such as tissues in the breasts. This excessive calcium should be controlled by eating a diet composed of all important minerals and vitamins. Inactivity or hyperactivity of the parathyroid glands also causes calcium levels to shoot up.
Always use calcium supplements that have been approved by health specialists and doctors all over the world. If some side effects occur, immediately stop the course of calcium tablets and consult a doctor. Do not consume more than 2500 mg of calcium on a daily basis. Try to divide the dosage into many parts and make a habit of taking calcium tablets right after meals.

Pregnancy After Breast Cancer

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

Breast cancer originates from uncontrolled growth of cells in the breast tissue. The disease attacks more women than men. The risk of getting the disease increases with age. A good number of women get it in their thirties and forties. The disease therefore affects women during their child-bearing ages. Doctors now agree that, it is safe for a woman to get pregnant after completing their treatment. However, doctors had for long believed that increased levels of estrogen during pregnancy could result in recurrence. One should never attempt to get pregnant while undergoing treatment. This is because, it raises the chances of the mother succumbing to the disease.

After treatment, one is expected to wait for at least two years before getting pregnant. This period is advised to allow the breast adequate time to heal and also for all toxins in the body to clear. These toxins are usually as a result of the medication one receives during treatment. The period is also used for monitoring the possibility of recurrence. If the disease were to recur, it would most likely happen during this two-year period. Recent studies have shown that getting pregnant after breast cancer treatment increases your chances of survival.

A woman might not conceive after breast cancer treatment. This usually happens if the radiation treatment was done on the ovaries. This could be as a result of the disease spreading to the ovaries. Infertility may also be as a result of some of the chemotherapy treatments. When this happens, the woman is unable to conceive and may have to consider other options such as adoption. Another problem associated with the available treatment options is that they could result in early menopause. This also results in a woman being unable to conceive.

Most of the women who can still conceive after breast cancer treatment suffer from a lot of uncertainty and worry. They worry about passing on the disease to their children. This is an especially difficult time for a woman who comes from a home with a history of the disease. Such women worry about conceiving a child who will late go through the same agony as they did due to the disease. When one is going through such concerns, they need to consult with their doctors who will put their fears to rest. They also need the support of family members who can be relied upon to take care of their children in case they do not survive.

Five Easy Things You Can Do Now to Help Prevent Breast Cancer
By Susun Weed Platinum Quality Author

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

Rather than focusing on breast cancer, Wise Women choose to concentrate on keeping our breasts healthy through wise lifestyle and dietary choices.

The following tips may amaze you, since the actions and foods they suggest run counter to many alternative views of cancer prevention. They are supported with strong research, however - from the lab, with animals, and in long-term human studies. Thus, each of these tips has a solid scientific basis, unlike the assertions made by those intent on selling you their opinions and products.

Embarking on even one of these suggestions will definitely lower your risk of breast cancer. Using them all is even better.

1. Be more active

Evidence continues to accumulate that a vigorous lifestyle is one of the best ways to cut breast cancer risk. A study of 20,624 Norwegian women found those who exercised or worked out regularly cut their breast cancer risk by 72%. (NEJM, 5/1/1997)

For breast health I walk every day, take a weekly yoga class, and do tai chi twice a week.

2. Eat more unrefined seed foods

All seeds provide phytoestrogens. Women who eat the most phytoestrogenic foods are four times less likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer than those who eat the least. "No study has shown a degree of risk reduction similar to that found for phytoestrogens..." (Lancet, 10/4/1997)

Whole grains such as wheat, rice, corn, kasha, millet, and quinoa are unrefined seed foods. Beans such as lentils, black beans, pinto beans, lima beans, and chickpeas are unrefined seed foods. Nuts including peanuts, walnuts, almonds, and pecans are unrefined seed foods. And edible seeds such as sesame, sunflower, and pumpkin are unrefined seed foods. Fruits and vegetables that are eaten with their seeds - such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, summer squash, tomatoes, and cucumbers - count as unrefined seed foods. Even seeds used as seasonings count, such as cumin, coriander, caraway, anise, and dill seeds.

For breast health, I have replaced all refined carbohydrates - including white rice and white/unbleached flour products such as pasta, bread, cookies, crackers, pretzels, bagels, donuts, and cakes - with whole grain products.

3. Eat less vegetable oil; increase animal fat, especially from dairy products

"Diets high in corn oil leave animals especially vulnerable to chemically induced cancers" say researchers. (Science News, 6/24/89; 10/2/99) Frightening as this statement is, it is not true only of corn oil but of all vegetable (or seed) oils including those made from soy, sesame, sunflower, cottonseed, flax, and hemp.

If you are dubious about eating more animal fat and dairy products to reduce breast cancer risk, consider this landmark study reported in the Archives of Internal Medicine (1/12/1998). To determine if food affected breast cancer risk. The diets of 61,000 Swedish women between the ages of 40-76 were followed for four years. The results? For every 5 grams (about a teaspoonful) of vegetable oil consumed per day, breast cancer risk increased by 70%. In contrast, for each 10 grams of fat from meat and dairy products in the daily diet, breast cancer risk was decreased by 55%.

Another study, begun in the early 1970s, followed 4,000 Finnish women's diets for 25 years. Results recently released found that those who "drank the most milk had only half the breast cancer risk of those who drank the least."

American researchers agree. According to a report in International Journal of Cancer (2001), women who drank milk as children and continued drinking it as adults had half the rate of breast cancer of non-milk drinkers. (Yes, I do buy organic milk, but the studies used regular supermarket milk.)

Why? Galactose, the primary sugar in milk, slows ovarian production of estradiol, a cancer-promoting hormone. Additionally, milk is rich in CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), a fat known to suppress breast tumors in animals.

For breast health I use yogurt, cheese, milk, butter, and olive oil daily, and eat meat occasionally.

Remember that olive oil is pressed from a fruit, not a seed. Women whose diets are high in olive oil, and who eat meat and dairy products regularly, have the lowest rates of breast cancer in the world. (Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1/18/1995)

4. Eat less tofu and soy beverage; eat more miso and tamari

While it is true that if you begin eating soy foods as a child and continue throughout puberty the breast tissues you create during your adolescence will be highly resistant to cancer until after menopause. However, if you begin eating unfermented soy (tofu, soy milk, and the like) after puberty, your risk of breast cancer increases. (Science News, 4/24/1999)

The active ingredient in soy - isoflavone - when given to breast cancer cells in petri dishes causes them to grow rapidly. (Extracts of dong quai and licorice have a similar effect.)

Miso and tamari - fermented soy foods - are the exceptions. Both are strongly cancer preventative, no matter when you start eating them. Animal studies have found both miso and tamari highly effective in preventing cancer, even in mice genetically programmed to get breast cancer. And the more you eat, the more you lower your risk of cancer.

For breast health, I use miso and/or tamari every day. I occasionally eat tofu or edemame. I drink no soy milk, and eat no other soy products of any kind.

5. Eat foods rich in antioxidants; avoid supplements of vitamins C and E

A diet that contains plenty of foods rich in antioxidants definitely lowers breast cancer risk. But supplements seem to do the opposite.

Doctors in Stockholm observed that, among breast cancer patients, treatment failures were higher for women taking vitamin E supplements - and the failure rate increased with dose. Studying this effect, researchers found that the anti-cancer benefits of fish oils "disappeared when [we] gave... antioxidant vitamins". In fact, when mice with breast cancer were given vitamin E supplements "the more we gave them, the bigger their tumors grew." The authors conclude that vitamin E supplements "preferentially protect a cancer and even aid its spread." (Science News, 4/29/1995 and 7/15/1995)

Supplements of vitamin C (synthetic ascorbic acid) are poorly used by body tissues. But cancer cells seem to thrive on it. (Cancer Research, 9/15/1999) One new "chemotherapy" links a lethal form of zinc to an ascorbic acid molecule; when the cancer eats the ascorbic acid, the zinc is set free to kill the cancer cell.

For breast health I eat 5-7 servings of dark green and bright red/orange foods daily.

Besides being active, choosing a diet high in phytoestrogens, eating one or more servings of dairy products daily, using miso and tamari regularly, and avoiding vitamin supplements, here are three more things you can do to help prevent breast cancer:

6. Sleep in the dark

Exposure to light at night increases the risk of breast cancer. The Journal of the National Cancer Institute (8/17/2001) reports that chronic suppression of melatonin - an anti-cancer hormone made only in the dark - increases breast cancer risk by at least 36%.

For breast health, be certain there is no light (except from the moon) in the room where you sleep. Not even a night-light. Not the light from a clock. Not the little lights on electronics.

7. Drink red clover blossom infusion

Red clover is a potent anti-cancer herb. It contains ten times more phytoestrogens than soy, and in a more complete form. I have seen it clear in situ cancers and pre-cancerous polyps hundreds of times. Since many breast cancers take 7-10 years to become big enough to be seen on a mammogram, I drink a quart of red clover infusion every week and skip the mammogram.

To prepare the infusion:

  • Place one ounce, by weight (about a cup by volume), of dried red clover in a quart canning jar.
  • Fill the jar to the top with boiling water and lid tightly.
  • Let steep for four hours or overnight.
  • Strain and drink.
  • Refrigerate excess and drink within 24-36 hours.

For breast health, I drink red clover infusion regularly.

8. Eat seaweed as a vegetable

If the long-lived and cancer-free Japanese have a secret, it is seaweed, not soy. A sprinkling of kelp as a seasoning is nice, and so are nori rolls - but neither does much to prevent cancer. For that we must eat seaweed as a vegetable - at least a half-cup serving per week. Wakame, kombu, kelp, and alaria are especially effective, but sea palm fronds, hijiki, nori, and dulse may be used on occasion.

There is a rich variety of seaweeds available in Chinese grocery stores, health food stores, and by mail.

These eight tips - five easy ones and three more difficult ones - will vastly increase your chances of living to be a wild, wise old woman with healthy breasts. That's the Wise Woman Way the world round.

Beans and Other Foods That Battle Breast Cancer

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

Breast cancer might be a common condition that is often highly treatable, but that doesn't mean preventative measures shouldn't come into play. If risks for developing this disease are high, women are not powerless to fight back. Eating a diet that is rich in beans can make a world of difference by starving this cancer of its food source - the female hormone estrogen.

Since roughly 200,000 new cases are reported in America each year and some 40,000 deaths are attributed to the disease, prevention is an essential step to take. Women who reduce their risks for developing this disease not only improve their chances for avoidance, but they also very often put their bodies into better physical health as a result.

Risks Worth Paying Attention To

While not all women who are at risk for breast cancer develop the disease, many do. There are a variety of risk factors that point to a need to consider prevention by just about every woman on the planet. Some of the more common risk factors include:

  • Simply being a woman: While it's true that men can contract this disease, women are much more likely. Just being a woman is a risk factor.
  • Age: Women over the age of 60 are at higher risk for developing breast cancer, but younger women are not immune.
  • Reproductive history: Women who start their periods before age 12, enter menopause later in life and who do not have children until after the age of 35 are more likely to develop breast cancer than others.
  • Family history: There does seem to be a rather strong genetic tie to breast cancer and family medical history. If a strong history of this cancer runs in a family, women are at much greater risk.

Why Beans?

Legumes are often recommended in anti-cancer and overall healthful diets for a variety of reasons. These rich sources of fiber, however, also contain ingredients that make them very useful in preventing cancer. The phytoestrogens contained in certain beans can block the activity of estrogen, which is known to promote breast cancer. While estrogen is a normal, necessary hormone, it does serve as a fuel for cancer growth.

Studies have found that women in countries throughout the Caribbean and also in Mexico are much less likely to develop breast cancer. The low incidence rate has been attributed to the fact that Hispanic women tend to eat twice as many beans as their American counterparts. Typical Hispanic women from these countries eat about three-quarters of a cup of beans six days a week.

The beans that top the list in this study include pinto, black beans and garbanzo beans. It's important to note that soybeans have also been shown to help prevent cancer cell growth.

Other Inhibiting Foods

Beans are not the only foods that have been shown to help prevent the development of cancer in breast. Certain vegetables have been shown to promote better estrogen metabolism. This, in turn, can assist in breast cancer prevention.

Vegetables that are considered cruciferous are generally the best bets for this. The options include cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and kale.

The link between diet and cancer is one that women should not ignore. Beans may provide a powerful preventative that can help women at high risk avoid this potentially devastating condition.

Alternative Breast Cancer Treatment
By Andy Kahn

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

Women can think of alternative approaches for prevention and treatment of breast cancer that is outside the conventional approach of chemotherapy, radiation and tamoxifen. Treating breast cancer is a life and death battle and one needs all the help from all the sources. Modern medicine does know what causes cancer and how it can be prevented. But the cancer specialists or oncologists focus only on burning, poisoning and slashing - the slang used to denote radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.

Doctors know that at the end most of the patients will come out mutilated and deformed.

There is nothing much to gain for the physician or the medical industry if they can help you with prevention and milder forms of treatment. The medical industry can make up to 150,000 U.S.$ from a single breast cancer patient. It is in their interest to let the show go on and maintain the status quo.

Why is that modern medicine is not going anywhere in treating this disease? The answer lies basically in the politics of the cancer industry and the industries that create carcinogens. The only way to effectively treat and prevent cancer of the breast is to go outside the norms and approach the issue in a wholesome and holistic manner. The first step would be to stop the massive pollution of this planet with petrochemical pollutants. But the forces that do this are powerful companies and are firmly entrenched. However an organized resistance can tilt the balance. It has been done before by women against the HRT (Hormone replacement therapy) industry successfully.

Women need to educate themselves about carcinogenic pollutants, about breast cancer and inexpensive alternative treatments and do what they can to teach the doctors and the government.

Precisely What is Breast Cancer?
By Sal Pou

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

For those who have breast cancer, it might be good to comprehend what it is, so a person will end up being aware how you can battle it. Without knowing what it is, how can you cope with it? You may well be in the dark. Breast cancer is actually several cells inside the breast which become abnormal for whatever reason. Scientists believe that several kinds of bacteria enter into the cells and trigger change. The altered cells may affect other normal cells and trigger them to become changed. Various cells end up getting destroyed.

Whenever enough cells tend to be changed in this manner, cancer grows. At times a tiny amount of changed cells wind up getting cancerous. For this reason cancer malignancy frequently begins small, in a certain area of the breast and propagates after that.

In the event that the cancer is not actually stopped or actually controlled, it might end up scattering further than the breast and end up in other areas of the entire body. This is when it becomes an absolute requirement to find a treatment and rapidly.

Experts determine what breast cancer is. For this reason they have been doing researching to find ways to fight it. They recognize that since cancer is a number of abnormal cells, they will take the research and utilize what they know toward finding chemical substances that will either destroy the abnormal or altered cells, or alter them so the cells are able to repair by themselves and develop into normal again.

The actual fact breast cancer is a variety of abnormal cells requires knowledge as to the reasons the cells turn out to be abnormal. By finding what causes this to occur may provide a clue as to the reason behind their development in the body. By being aware what causes the abnormal cell structure, people who do have breast cancer, will find methods to reverse the process. This will help advert it in the future, especially for individuals who got it initially. And for those who never had it, they can take steps to keep it from happening.

Sal Pou lives in NJ with his wife and 2 children. In the last several years his grandmother and friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I think that most people really don't understand what the cause of this cancer. Just think, when you just been diagnosed with breast cancer you think your life is over. You begin to prepare your will. You even contact your next of kin for instructions on your burial. Life does not end there. That why I created this website called Breast Cancer Awareness. So people can understand the facts. To read more please visit: http://www.havebreastcancer.com

Breast Health is Vitally Important to Every Woman

Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

Did you know that only 10% of breast health issues are attributed to family genes, the higher percentage due to environmental, dietary or lifestyle issues. Antioxidants are intimately involved in the prevention of cellular damage -- the common pathway for cancer, aging, and a variety of diseases. Antioxidants are key elements in preventing cancer, because they stabilize highly reactive free radicals that can otherwise damage our DNA and begin the process of cancer development.

Breast health is very important to adult women and good self-esteem about breasts and all physical features are very important for younger girls. The key is recognizing changes in how your breasts look and feel. Breast health is an important part of women's lives as they age and face increased risk of breast cancer. With current women's health statistics in the United States, the need to educate and provide effective nutritional supplements to maintain breast health is a necessity.

Prevention

The best policy is prevention with self-examination and using thermography to screen for trouble areas, which might show up as fibrocystic conditions or general inflammation. Your life is too important to not know the latest and greatest about womens health issues and the tried and tested. We do know that diet, lifestyle and stress relief play important roles in disease prevention, and these are places in our daily lives where we get to have a say.

Furthermore, it is believed that women should not rely on mammograms either. Women are only screened every three years and, usually, a mammogram can only detect a breast tumor once it has been growing for 8 years. By the time the tumor reaches 10 years, it could be too late. The other thing to remember is that a mammogram can only screen the part of the breast which can be put into the "clamp". It cannot screen under the armpit or between the breasts for example.

Conclusion

Every time someone's chest catches your eye, remember how important breast health is to your happiness. In the Chinese medical view, all elements of the body are interconnected, leading to the conclusions that breast health is connected to menstruation, exercise, diet, and mental health, just to name a few. The single most important way for you to actively pursue their health is with regular breast cancer screening. Lowering excess weight with healthy foods is a major part of prevention and treatment.

Because the breast belongs to the energy field of the heart, it's health is subject to our diet, circulation, emotions, and belief system. Being vigilant about your breast health is especially important for women at high risk, so knowing your risk factors for triple negative breast cancer is important. Your breast health is not only necessary for your self but is quite important for your baby because you breast health concerns with you baby if you are feeding mother.

As we know, breast cancer is the most feared disease amongst women and understanding how it develops, the risk factors and, most importantly, how to protect against it, will make women feel more in control and positive towards their breast health. Find out more about Breast Health

All Forms of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Increase Breast Cancer Risk
By Robert Wascher

Recommended Reading
Cancer-Free -- Third Edition.
Gentle, Non-toxic Healing Of Cancer Is Not Only Possible

One of the most common questions that I am asked is if there are any safe forms of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for women who are experiencing severe symptoms associated with menopause. Since the release of the preliminary results of the pivotal Women's Health Initiative study, in 2002, which clearly showed that standard combination HRT (containing the two primary female sex hormones) was associated with a significant increase in the risk of developing breast cancer, a number of alternative "safer" forms of HRT have been proposed. These alternative forms of HRT have included transdermal estrogen patches (which are placed on the skin) and other forms of "bioidentical" HRT hormones.

Advocates of transdermal estrogen patches note that the adverse effects of estrogen-based HRT pills on cholesterol, as well as their association with an increased risk of life-threatening blood clots, may be lower with transdermal patches when compared to oral HRT medications.

Proponents of "bioidentical" HRT, in which the active ingredient is the same chemical form of estrogen (estradiol) that is manufactured in the ovaries prior to menopause, have also made abundant health-related claims for this form of HRT when compared to the more commonly prescribed cocktail of mixed forms of estrogen derived from the urine of pregnant mares. Unfortunately, there is almost no solid clinical research evidence available to support these claims that "bioidentical" HRT is safer, or more effective, than the more commonly prescribed "conjugated equine estrogens." (Within the estrogen-sensitive cells of a woman's body, estrogen receptors really don't care much whether estrogen-like hormones come from horse urine or from the human form of estrogen; nor do they care whether or not estrogen-like hormones enter the body in the form of a pill versus being absorbed into the bloodstream through a transdermal patch.)

As the Women's Health Initiative study's breast cancer risk findings were far more robust for the combination HRT pill that has been commonly prescribed for menopausal women (because estrogen-alone HRT increases the risk of uterine cancer, as well...), many patients, and their doctors, have held out the hope that low-dose estrogen-only HRT might be a safer alternative to traditional combination HRT. However, a recently published research paper from the enormous European EPIC public health study casts serious doubt about the assumption that alternative forms of HRT are safe from the standpoint of breast cancer risk.

This research paper, which has been published in the International Journal of Cancer, is an update of the huge European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study, in which 134,744 postmenopausal women throughout Europe were evaluated. After nearly 9 years of follow-up, on average, 4,312 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed within this extremely large group of patient volunteers.

When compared to women who had never used HRT, the women who were currently using combination HRT during the course of this clinical study experienced a 77 percent increase in the relative risk of developing breast cancer (similar to what has been shown in the Women's Health Initiative study, and in other similar prospective clinical research studies). However, the greater contribution of this study to our understanding of the risks of HRT was the finding that estrogen-only HRT also increased the risk of breast cancer, as there was a 42 percent increase in the relative risk of breast cancer among the women who were taking various forms of estrogen-only HRT. Moreover, this increased breast cancer risk among users of estrogen-only HRT was the same for both oral and transdermal forms of estrogen-only HRT.

The results of this giant, multi-national prospective public health study are of great importance, as it is many times larger than most of the studies that have preceded it, including the Women's Health Initiative study. These results from the ongoing EPIC study emphasize the point that I have made to patients for almost two decades, now: The biology of the receptors in cells that respond to estrogen, and other estrogen-like molecules, has been well understood for decades now. Any substance that stimulates these estrogen receptors automatically sets off a cascade of biochemical reactions with the same end biological result. We have long known that prolonged exposure to estrogen (whether from a woman's own ovaries, or from HRT medications) increases the risk of breast and uterine cancer, and also increases the risk of blood clots, gallstones, and other serious illnesses. (More recent data has also implicated combination HRT in the development of cardiovascular disease and dementia in women.)

Based upon the findings of this very large prospective public health study, my advice to women remains the same as it has been for almost 20 years. If you are going through menopause, do not use HRT medications. If you are already using HRT medications, then ask your doctor to help in weaning you off of them. If you are one of the approximately 3 to 5 percent of postmenopausal women who have unbearably severe hot flashes, or other severe symptoms of menopause, and you are currently using some form of HRT medication, then work with your doctor to reduce the dose of your HRT medicine to the lowest possible level that adequately treats your symptoms.

To learn more about the critical role of hormone replacement medications and the risk of cancer, look for the publication of my new landmark book, "A Cancer Prevention Guide for the Human Race," in the summer of this year.

--Reduce breast congestion
--Soften breasts
--Decrease lumps and cysts from fibrocystic breasts
--Move lymph
--Bring T-Cells to protect the breasts
--Reduce breast tenderness during pregnancy
--Enhance breastfeeding
--Easier to do a self breast exam
--Maintain healthy breast tissue
