Breast cancer has become a very common disease today. Many women all over the world have been diagnosed with this disease. It has also proved fatal in many cases where it has been detected very late in a person's life.
The cancer in the breast is generally in the soft tissue areas of the breast. The cancer is generally found in the inner linings of the milk duct or in the lobules. The disease must be diagnosed early in order to increase the chances of a person surviving with the cancer. This is so because if discovered late, there are chances that it has spread to various parts of the body also. Thus the early detection is very important.
Women all over the world have been urged to check their breasts for lumps which are unlike any tissue in the breast. This is done in order to detect the cancer early. Another method of early detection is using the mammogram. This test can help the early detection and the earlier you detect, the better it is.
Treatment for the cancer is chemotherapy. Other than chemotherapy there are also various methods of treatments like the hormone blocking treatment and the monoclonal antibodies. In some of the cases Radiation has also been used. However this method is generally used after the surgery.
There are a lot of problems associated with this kind of cancer. A major problem is on the psychological front. It has been observed that many women have suffered mental problems after their diagnosis with breast cancer. The disease is fatal but there is always a hope for the patient. The most important part of surviving is the belief and the determination to fight the odds.
